North Country Chefs Challenge 11/8/2015

By Julie Moran, North Country Farmers Co-op (November 1, 2015)

Five local chefs from the North Country Region will compete on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Grand Challenge from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in the Ballroom at the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa in Whitefield, NH.

In its fourth year now, the Chefs Challenge has drawn North Country Chefs from the Grand Hotels to tiny catering businesses. Professional judges from the American Culinary Federation (White Mountains Chapter) judge the event.  Guests determine the hotly contested People’s Choice Award.

This is the major fundraising event for the North Country Farmers Co-op to finish paying for the refrigerated truck to continue delivering the products of local farms, thereby making farming a viable venture in the North Country.

Chefs battle to become Top Chef of the North Country using only local ingredients (except spices)!  Food will include sample entree’s, soups, and appetizers.  Top Chef takes home the Silver Ladle and bowl, and takes possession of the Plaque listing the previous Top Chefs of the North Country Chefs Challenge.  Guests vote for their favorite food, and the winner of that vote takes home the coveted People’s Choice Award.  The Grand Ballroom, the show, and the company is topped only by the great local food!
