Monadnock Localvore Workshops

Canning fruit, growing vegetables, and making wine, cheese and bread; once everyday skills shared with family, friends and neighbors. Bring these satisfying and useful skills into your life the old fashioned way – by learning from your friends and neighbors! Enjoy ordinary people sharing their ways of doing things: uncomplicated, practical, friendly and fun. The Monadnock Localvores, with the help of your friends and neighbors, offers 13 different workshops throughout the year.

 CSA Cooking Class with Jeanny Aldrich

Sunday, July 15, 4pm to 6pm

Located at  The 1780 Farm, 89 Winchester Rd. Chesterfield, NH

This workshop focuses on cooking seasonal vegetables within the consumer’s capacity in order to create GOOD FOOD!

Directions: 50ft South of Chesterfield Town Center. Turn East (only way you can go) on Winchester Rd. 3/10 of a mile where the road turns, you have reached your destination on the left.

Canning Workshop- Jamming with Local Fruit

Saturday, July 21, 1pm to 4pm

Located at Suzanne Brouilette’s Garden, 321 Chesham Rd, Harrisville, NH

Come learn how to preserve our local berries using techniques that you can easily do at home. Demonstrations include how to can jam and jellies with sterile techniques. There will be samples of local jams with different recipes and talk of how to use this technique for other fruit and vegetables.

The maximum number of people for this workshop is 10 people, so register now before all the spots are taken!

Homemade Herbal Medicine Tinctures with Katy Locke

Sunday, August 5, 2pm to 4pm

Located at 380 Water St. Keene, NH 03431

This workshop includes an introduction to the many benefits of homemade remedies, followed by a hands-on opportunity to make alcohol-based tinctures from some of our friendly neighborhood helpers: Echinacea flower/leaf; Mullein leaf; Boneset flower/leaf; and Motherwort. Please bring and 8 oz. jar with a lid and a $5 donation for the tincture medium- 80 proof brandy.

Wild Mushroom Foray with David Wichland

Thursday, August 16, 10am to 12 pm

Located at Wichland Woods, South St. Stoddard, NH

This workshop includes a mushroom foray and garden walk, followed by a potluck lunch, please bring a dish to pass around. There will be mushrooms and mushroom tea provided. Spawn will be available for purchase.
