Food Day 2014 Events – October 20th – 24th

By Christine Zinkand (October 18, 2014)

Check out Food Day Events around the state on our calendar!

On October 24, Americans from all 50 states will celebrate the fourth annual Food Day at thousands of events, building a movement to change the American food system. Join the 2014 Food Day campaign!

Food Day inspires Americans to change their diets and our food policies. Every October 24, thousands of events all around the country bring Americans together to celebrate and enjoy real food and to push for improved food policies. October 24 is a day to resolve to make changes in our own diets and to take action to solve food-related problems in our communities at the local, state, and national level. In 2014, Food Day will have a special focus on food access and justice for food and farm workers.

Food Day’s national priorities address overarching concerns within the food system and provide common ground for building the food movement. Food Day aims to:
•    Promote safer, healthier diets
•    Support sustainable and organic farms
•    Reduce hunger
•    Reform factory farms to protect the environment and animals
•    Support fair working conditions for food and farm workers

Food Day Pitchfest October 22, 2014 5pm – 6:30pm

Anyone with an awesome idea for strengthening our region’s Food System is invited to present their idea at the Food Day Pitchfest.  It may be something you or your organization is already working on (but are in need of some support/cheerleading) or something you’ve only thought about.

Pitchfests often connect entrepreneurs with investors, but this event’s goals lean more towards increasing collaborations between individuals, businesses and organizations and connecting volunteers to great opportunities.

Want to pitch your idea?  Contact to sign up and for more details.
