100th-anniversary

The NH Dept. of Agriculture, Markets & Food is 100 years old and you’re invited to a party! To recognize this history and to commemorate 100 years of New Hampshire agriculture, an anniversary celebration is set for October 22 at the New Hampshire State House in Concord.

The celebration event will begin at 10 am and run until 2pm. There will be agricultural exhibits and demonstrations from a variety of agricultural organizations; an agriculture history presentation by Steve Taylor, former NH Commissioner of Agriculture; remarks by NH Governor Maggie Hassan; an open house at the NH Dept. of Agriculture, Markets & Food Office (across the street), featuring tours, exhibits and locally made refreshments. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about New Hampshire’s rich agricultural history and connect with many agricultural organizations and agencies throughout the day.

The event is free and open to the public. In case of rain the program will be held inside at the NH State House and at the NH Dept. of Agriculture, Markets & Food offices. Visit this website for event details and download a copy of the program.

As part of this celebration, the NH Dept. of Agriculture, Markets & Food is hosting a photo contest on its Facebook page through December 15, 2013. Enter your favorite New Hampshire Agriculture photo for all to see and for all to vote! The winning photo will receive a grand prize including an agricultural products gift basket and dinner gift certificate at Cotton Restaurant in Manchester. The winning photos will be featured at the NH Farm & Forest Expo in February.
